A Quick Update
I’m sorry I’ve been MIA but all of our company has just left. It was weeks of entertaining. I still felt the obligation to cook and keep a nice house. It was nice to have the house to ourselves after three weeks of family here. I wanted to start a bit of a routine and be able to get to know G.
Within the last month our experience with being new parents has been pretty good. I’m getting better at reading her cues and understanding her different cries. I often look in the mirror while I’m holding her in disbelief that this has happened. After years of struggling for a dream that felt unattainable and then accepting that you wouldn’t reach it and then actually reaching it has driven me to the conclusion that it may take months to realize that this is permanent and that I really am a mother. The whole thing feels surreal and temporary, like I have to give her back soon.
I have been struggling with what to get my doctors as a thank you. What do you get a doctor as a thank you for giving you everything you have ever wanted? Dr. Young and Dr. B have followed us for 4 years while we struggled through infertility. They both have done a transfer of our embryo’s and our extractions. They then followed our pregnancy and in the end delivered our miracle. In the hospital after delivery they expressed how honored they were to deliver our baby. I really don’t know what to get them. I was thinking a hundred dollar gift certificate to a nice restaurant. Any suggestions?
Our puppies are doing great with the new addition. Now I’m nervous about the toddler stage. We still see a trainer once a week to work with them. Some of it is good advice and some is not. Her ideas are a bit out there sometimes (she told us to pick an ad off kijji to bring someone into our home while we are on vacation to watch our dogs….ummm no thanks).
All in all things are great. G. is a blessing and I am so happy that this has come true for us. I have been slacking on reading your posts lately but will try to catch up these next few weeks.
Hope you are all well…..
